Ercolano and Napoli

Mount Vesuvius




Ercolano. They have uncovered only about 30% of the city. Most of it is still buried below the current city. 


The rooms at the bottom of the picture used to be the edge of the town and where the water from the sea was located. After the volcano erupted the land increased about 300m which is where the water is located now. In these rooms there are approximately 300 people who tried to escape the eruption.
